The school was established in 1853, in premises provided by Sir William Jaffray Bart, whose family lived at Skilts.
Later the school moved into Ankcorn House where mainly the farm workers children were educated. It continued as a village school when Head Teacher, Miss C.B. Carratt moved the pupils into a new building on the Henley Road.
This was first used on the 6th July 1964 and officially opened on 24th February 1965 at 3.00p.m. The dedication was performed by the Right Reverend C.K.N. Bardsley - Lord Bishop of Coventry. The opening was by Sir Lionel Russell, Chief Education Officer for the City of Birmingham.
The building accommodated 50 children and cost £16,000 to build. The opening was marked by the planting of an oak tree costing 11 shillings and 3 pence.

In 1976 Miss P. Jutson became Head Teacher until Mrs. H. Davis took over in 1988. Miss B. Julian became Head Teacher in 1990 and the school began a rapid expansion until today when approximately 120 pupils with an age range of 4-11 years educated in five classes.
The building has been extended to include two extra classrooms, a staff room, office and facilities for pre-school children. An area of land was donated by Mr. Green to be used as a nature trail and conservation area.
Over the last few years the school has seen many changes. We have a new hall built, with storerooms and a kitchen, new classrooms to replace the temporary buildings with the Reception and years 3 and 4 children. The old hall has been converted into an I.T. suite for use by all classes.
In September 2006 we welcomed the new Head Teacher, Mrs. Erica Hayton.
The future of the school looks assured and we look forward to further expansion and the continuance of sound educational progress in a loving, caring environment for all.
